About Us

Cantara Street Elementary is a traditional track, kindergarten through fifth grade, LAUSD school established in 1956.  We have a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural student body of approximately 650 students.  A variety of academic and enrichment programs are offered for our students and their parents.  Our Parent Center provides a welcoming space for the dedicated and hard-working parents who support our thirty-nine faculty and staff.  Cantara Street elementary School stresses academic achievement and character development for students.  Faculty, staff, and the community work together to achieve our common goals.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to Cantara Street Elementary School located in Reseda.  Our school has evolved into a multiethnic, multicultural school since it was built in 1956.  We are a School-wide Title I school and we are proud of our accomplishments.

I believe every child can learn and all students can overcome the barriers which may stand in their path to success. “I know the price of success: dedication, hard work and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen” – Frank Lloyd Wright.

Our classroom instruction focuses on achieving mastery of California State content standards. By using brain-based strategies, we design instruction based on how the brain best takes information. We take pride in focusing on the quality as well as the quantity of learning.

At Cantara Elementary we welcome parents and develop and provide meaningful opportunities to encourage parents to participate.  We offer Parent Teacher Partnership Classes focusing on breaking down complex skills into short segments, allowing repeated practice for students and providing parents with instructional tools.
